About MP4 to MP3 Conversion
MP4 is a video container format that usually holds a video track and one or more audio tracks. This tool decodes the audio track in your browser and re-encodes it as MP3 (small, plays everywhere) or WAV (uncompressed, full quality).
Because the conversion happens locally, there is no upload time and no file size limit beyond your device's memory. Long videos take more memory to decode - for very long recordings, consider trimming the video first.
Note: If a video has multiple audio tracks, the default track is extracted.
MP3 encoding is performed by the open source lamejs library (LGPL license), loaded as a separate, unmodified file.
